How I become a poster collector ? A note from JD Clerc, the gallery owner, collector for over thirty years. "In 1977 in an old house, I found 21 vintage original posters under a wooden floor ! These posters Designed by "De Bas" were printed in 1920 for the French car company "Renault" to sell a sports-car. For some reason, they were then stocked under this floor in the nineteen twenty's for insulation purposes. The beauty, the strength of the design and the quality of the stone lithograph printing, surprised me. This was the beginning of a passion, which changed my direction in life, after my French literature degree, to the visual Arts, twenty's century history and the gallery business. One of these beautiful posters is still in my private collection."  original poster, De Bas 1920 not for sale, private collection My private collection "From the beginning I built  my own vintage original posters private collection, mainly from Swiss posters. This private collection is composed of a large selection of consumer posters " Swiss style "  by the principal designers, together with earlier skiing or transportation posters, some " greatest hits " like PKZ  the fashion company from Zürich, or some extremely rare posters by Charles Loupot, Otto Morach, Herbert Matter and others. We also have a collection of more than 1000 original posters on the town of Geneva. Some are referred to as " only known example". These private posters are not for sale, and not exhibited.  I understand your " disappointment "  but I'm proud to have some of my posters reproduced in more than 80 different books and many other catalogues, publications or magazines.  I am honored to see many of them hang in museums.
